Hi mattyedge08! I’m not sure about the answer to this, because I’m not a geologist or geographer, but I think the answer is that ice ages are cycles of activity, and we’re at the end of one of those cycles at the moment, which started nearly 3 million years ago. We’re currently in what’s called an ‘interglacial period’, which means that we’re in an interval of warmer-than-average temperatures. Some scientists think that the next glacial period (in which everything gets colder) will probably happen in about 50,000 years.
