  Ideally, we wanted a more sporty petrol car – but they were either unavailable, too costly or didn’t want to take part. However, the petrol car we did use did have good acceleration – it was just that the electric car was better.

Question: Why did you use a petrol car with such poor acceleration? Why not an Ariel Atom (or equivalent) with a decent 0-60?
