I am a scientist that works on solar cells, so I would like solar energy to be a big part of what fuels us in the future!
However, I think we need lots of different types of renewable energy to help give us energy in the future that doesn’t hurt our environment as much as using fossil fuels.
I would like to power the future with hydrogen, this is because the only products from burning hydrogen would be water. We can then regenerate the hydrogen using solar energy all wind or other renewable sources. For example if we use electricity from these renewable sources, we can then use a process called electrolysis that causes water to break down into hydrogen and oxygen respectively. If we then take this hydrogen and compress it, it can then be used in cars and other applications. we have to compress the hydrogen otherwise it would occupy a ridiculous volume, however there is a penalty to pay of about 25%. This penalty is paid because we have to actually compress the hydrogen gas doesn’t occupy a ridiculous amount of volume. hydrogen is therefore the best fuel in my view because it doesn’t involve any carbon and never will not result in increased CO2 levels
