I change my mind all the time about this, but today my favourite element is mercury. It’s a metal, but it’s liquid at room temperature, so it has quite unique properties. Unfortunately, it’s toxic!

My favourite element is Carbon! It’s the sixth element in the periodic table, and all the materials I make are made of it. Carbon is really awesome because it’s the same element that makes up both the black stuff you get on burnt toast, and diamonds! It’s everywhere and is incredibly useful. We wouldn’t be alive without it (it’s the second most common element in our body), and materials made from it can go into filtering water, making carbon fiber frames for bikes and planes, storing hydrogen, the list is endless!
