Wellbeing Zone

The activities you get up to affect the wellbeing of your body, that much we all agree on. But why do people do things, like smoke or drink, that they know might harm them? And why is it sometimes so hard to do exercise or eat in ways that we’ve been told will make us healthier? Can we all behave in ways that will make us well beings?

The psychologists in this zone have a range of research topics to talk about. One is working on ways to make us all feel happier about our bodies, while another teaches people about the mental benefits of sport and exercise. There’s a psychologist researching the reasons people drink alcohol, another looking at how smoking can affect our physical and mental health, and one working to find out why some people decide not to take potentially life-saving anti-cancer medication. One even tickles rats to make them happy and then measures how this affects their food choices!
