If I get the prize money, I will spend it on a really cool animated video to inspire schoolchildren to become mental health bloggers. A portion of it will also be spent on the mental health events that I organise.

If I win the money I plan to arrange workshops for anyone who wants to learn how to look after their mental health both in and out of the workplace. I will make this available to employers, employees and anyone else who wants to learn ways to make their workplace a good place to be for their mental health. Hopefully this will have a long lasting impact and give people some good tips to go away with and use in their own lives to benefit their wellbeing.

I would use the money to produce a video and printed materials (E.g. a postcard, poster) to help inspire students in high school to study psychology, especially the need to study the psychological basis of mental health-related experiences. Hopefully, I’d like to see more students study psychology at university and use their psychological knowledge to help people living with mental health-related conditions (whether through research, practice/therapy, or in other ways!)

I’d like to use the money to help disadvantaged kids visit real research labs and encourage them to apply for STEM subjects. People with disadvantaged backgrounds are more prone to mental health problems for lots of reasons, and on top of that at lot of them don’t think they can do science even though they want to – I want to help show that science is for everyone, and build confidence.

If I win I would use the money to run some workshops for young carers. It would be strength based meaning we’d focus on learning about all the transferrable skills that are developed when being a young carer.

If I win the money I will use it to empower mothers and communities in Africa to support their children’s development through play. It will help develop their confidence, knowledge, understanding, and skills, which will help their mental health (and that of their children).
