0 Question: can salt make a slug explode? Keywords: slug Asked by science4lyf to Mike, Pip, Tianfu, Tim, Tom on 28 Jun 2012.
Tom Lister answered on 28 Jun 2012:
Some salts can be very explosive when coming into contact with water. Normal table salt just makes them shrivel up though.
Tim Stephens answered on 28 Jun 2012:
The salt seems to make the slug uncomfortable, so it tries to wash it off by excreting slime. Then it gets dehydrated and dies. It’s a really inhumane way to kill them, even if they do eat my tomatoes!
